Frequently Asked Questions
DPC is a membership model of healthcare. For one low monthly fee, you can have unlimited access to your primary care provider for routine and most urgent care needs. This can include a number of procedures such as ear wax removal, skin biopsy (pathology not included), etc. It also includes urgent care needs that can often be handled with a telehealth visit or phone call.
With insurance-based medicine, providers are forced to see 20 or more patients per day which equates to mostly 15 minute visits. Much of the time spent in a visit is documenting in an electronic health record (EHR) instead of time caring for the patient. DPC allows providers to spend 30-60 minutes with their patients. This allows for the DPC provider to know their patients and meet their healthcare needs as best as possible.
While we hope that you will be happy and confident with the care you have received, we understand that there may be a need to cancel your membership. There are no long-term contracts. Patients are asked to provide a 30-day cancellation notice. If you choose to reenroll in the future, there may be a re-enrollment fee assessed and current rates will apply.
DPC does not accept/bill any insurance. Insurance can be used outside of the DPC for other medical needs such as labs, imaging, specialist visits, etc. It is important for all patients to have some form of health insurance (whether an employer-based policy, health share plan, high deductible plan, catastrophic plan, etc) in case of an emergency and for other medical needs such as specialist visits.
If you have an emergency, please call 911 or go to your local emergency room (ER). Otherwise, you can text, email or call your provider if there is an urgent medical need. You will receive a response as quickly as possible and the provider will do everything possible to help.
The provider/office will notify all members via email of any planned absence of the provider for more than 3 days. The provider will attempt to find coverage but cannot guarantee coverage.
Health insurance providers do not reimburse for DPC membership fees. It is possible to have reimbursement through a different form of insurance called a health share plan (if they offer DPC coverage). A bill was signed in August 2019 to allow for HSA funds to pay for DPC membership fees. Please consult with your accountant or attorney for further information regarding the use of your HSA to pay for DPC membership fees.
